Week 8: Photo Words -Abigail W.

For my word, or words, in this instance, words, I chose "Just Breathe." This is a line from the song "Breathe" by Johnny Diaz, and it speaks to me a lot. I've been feeling stressed with lots of stuff going on this year, and on days like that, it's way too easy to forget about God. That's sad, because God's the only one who can really help me when things get crazy.

When everything is spinning out of control, I need the reminder to simply breathe, give it to God, and rest at his feet.

Hannah- Embrace

For my word, I chose "Embrace."  Originally, when I though of what this year has meant to me, words like "struggle," "fighting," "striving" and "endurance" came to mind.  As in every year, this one has been a challenge to get through.  I wanted my word to urge me to keep clinging to my values and living as best a life as I could.  I considered using the word "clinging."  But upon considering God's role in my life, I found a synonym of "clinging" with a double meaning.  My word is Embrace, when it comes to God's truth, when you cling to it, it holds you, too.

I might also make a few more words, and I have a lot of random pictures plus some I've taken for my final project!  If time allows, I will be posting more before the end of the week.

Let me know what you think about the composition of the photos, especially how the textures and light balance.  Parts feel unbalanced to me, and I might edit a few of the photos to be lighter or darker and make it flow better.  Also, let me know what you think about the pops of red!

{ Week 8 Assignment - Photo Letters }

Hey Everyone,

Hope you had a good week and got some great photos taken for yourself and the assignment! I love watching what you all are creating as well as what you are taking at home.

This week we are going to do Letters! Sounds basic but once you get the letters taken then you can form a picture word that has some meaning to you.

Have you ever done a word for the year? Heard of this concept? If not...  You pick a word with meaning to you and what you want to accomplish/change this year. It could be very simple or it could be complex.

Some examples:

My word for the past several years has been the same mostly because I struggle with it all the time. I chose SURRENDER. I want to surrender my life in entirety to God and that isnt easy being human. I want to stretch myself and always look to God with everything versus just what I want to give Him. So my goal has been to keep surrendering it all to Him and maybe at some point it will just become a habit versus a task.

What would your word say about you? What would you want it to say about your upcoming school year or life in general.

So with that.. use this format for images only I want you to of course take your own photos with what you find and make them black and white and then piece them together to form your word. Then give a brief or elaborate explanation of why that is your word. If you dont feel comfortable sharing all the reasons why you chose that word that is fine. Just do as much as your willing to share. Please however dont just put nothing.

I hope you have fun with this project!

[Week 7] Gracie, Lighting Contrasts and Cringing

The following two pictures of Abby are a bit horror-movie-esque, just a PSA.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with lighting and colors. I feel as though each picture captures a different emotion and or overall aesthetic-y feel even though a few are not very flattering... Oh well, beauty is pain. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Week 7: Contrast Light/Dark -Abigail W.

Just For Fun:

A little work for my final project. This is my subject, Cindy, though you can only see the back of her head. She works at the library with me, and goes to our church.:

Putting protective plastic covering on a new material, one of Cindy's least favorite jobs. She says it's annoying, because its her least favorite thing to do, but she has to do it all the time!
