Portraits will make up our lives in some shape or form from birth till we are at the end of our lives and even then we typically have portraits after at the funerals celebrating one's life!

Many people love taking portraits of their families and some members absolutely HATE their photo being taken. Never the less, those photos are part of our history. What you look like and that specific point in your life are memories and milestones for you, your family and your friends around you. If your great grandchildren want to see who they may look like and they go to look for your photo and find nothing how will they ever know? This may be trivial for some but many love looking at these memories and seeing where they have come from and who they look like. No matter if its a stunning well thought out photo or just a casual in the moment photo it can still mean a lot!

Location, lighting, colors, memento's, milestone's, grouping... all these things are what you want to think about when taking an intentional portrait. You can gather your subjects together for a great POSED portrait or you can take the LIFESTYLE side and take it as it happens. Either way can be a great photograph as long as you have thought through these if they apply and have cooperating subjects. That always helps right!

She has some crazy awesome lighting in the middle photographs to really make those photographs stand out more and show off the wonderful color in the background to make it an even more warm and fuzzy photograph that any family would want to put up on their mantle!
